We regularly offer volunteer positions within the school. We do however require a commitment of at least one day per week for a minimum of 2 terms, to enable both yourself and our pupils to benefit from the experience. Volunteers are subject to a screening process and will only be invited if we have capacity within the school for the time period requested.

Volunteer positions are as follows:

Class based volunteers

  • Helping learning settle in the classroom.
  • Support on trips.
  • General support throughout the school.
  • Creating display work and preparing resources in the classroom.
  • Providing an excellent role model for our children and young adults.

You should have:

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  •  Ideally, experience in childcare and/or youth work.
  •  Ability to work well within a team.

Swimming/Hydrotherapy/Rebound volunteers

We are recruiting volunteers who can share their time supporting our swimming programme, where swimming session take place both on and off site.  The hydrotherapy swimming programme is for our more profoundly disabled learners. We currently need volunteers to support the swimming programme on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and on Tuesdays for the rebound therapy.

 You should have:

  • Ideally, experience in childcare and/or youth work.
  • Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team.
  • Commitment of at least one day per week for a minimum of one school term. (12 weeks).
  • Must be a competent swimmer.
  • Have the ability to learn on the job and bring with them energy, patience and enthusiasm.

Minibus driver volunteer

We are looking for a volunteer driver on Monday’s to take our pupils in a mini bus swimming. Hours will be 9.30-3.00pm and we will provide a lunch.

They will be subject to a DBS and reference check and will need a full driving licence and be over the age of 25. They must be prepared to take a mini bus test which the school will fund.

 

We offer our volunteers:

  • An induction programme.
  • Free school lunch (please order at main reception before 9.30am).
  • Opportunities to participate in social events.
  • A link with the volunteer’s college or university by completing reports, references and assessments as requested, and assisting with research projects and assignments.
  • Priceless experience.
  • Possible on-site training both formal and informal.
  • We normally ask all volunteers to dedicate a minimum of one full day a week starting promptly at 8:30am and ending at 3.30pm. Volunteers must have proficiency in numeracy and literacy.
